Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged that if the BJP comes back to power again at the Centre it will ‘tear apart’ and ‘throw-away’ the Constitution that safeguards the rights of the underprivileged including the poor, Dalits, STs, and the OBCs. He also targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah over issue of reservation.
While addressing a public meeting here, Rahul Gandhi said, “The poor, STs, OBCs got several rights because of the Constitution which also gave the people MGNREGA, land rights, reservation, and other things. If the BJP comes to power, it will throw away and tear apart this Constitution.”
Hitting back at the BJP, he said, “The Prime Minister, BJP leaders have said it clearly, Amit Shah had said, their big leaders had said that if they win elections they’ll change the constitutions, dismiss it.”
The Gandhi scion further said that the Constitution is the soul of the poor people of India, no one can touch it, there’s no power in the world who can change it.
“These BJP people are seeing dreams,” he remarked. “Babasaheb, along with Congress and the people fought the British and made this constitution, the voice of the people, we built it.
We’ll never let it erase, the farmers and the labourers will never let it happen.” he said.
Rahul Gandhi further questioned the BJP, and said, “Now they are saying that they are not against reservation? Then why are you privatising the public sector, railways? Why did you bring Agniveer scheme?”
Rahul Gandhi also alleged that the BJP desired the elimination of this foundational document, advocating for governance by a select group of 20-25 billionaires.
He then promised that if the Congress won, they would implement a scheme called Mahalakshmi Yojana, where women would receive one lakh rupees (8,500 rupees monthly) to improve their financial status.
“If Prime Minister Narendra Modi can turn 22-25 industrialists into billionaires, then the Congress will turn crores of women into lakhpatis,” Rahul Gandhi said.
He also took a pot shot at the government and said that (Gautam) Adani without any labour, without anything was given crores of money saying, look development is happening.
“We did MNREGA and we are providing money for labour, and they say that we are breaking the habit. If we are giving money to the poor we are breaking their habits, and if the money is given to the billionaires, it’s development,” he rued.
He also said that it was reason why the Congress has decided if Rs 10 is given to them you’ll also get Rs 10, if lakh is given to them, lakh will be given to you, if crore is given to them, crore will be given to you.
The amount of money they gave to them in 10 years, we’ll give it to you, he said.
He further said, “You must have seen Narendra Modi’s picture with Adani and Ambani, but have you ever heard the name Ambani or Adani from his mouth?Have you ever seen my photo with them? But see I take them, understand the difference. I’m yours, they are theirs.”
He also targeted the government for waiving off the loans of 20 to 25 businessmen in the country worth Rs 16 lakh crore and said that they waived off the loans of industrialists.
“I want to ask that of how many farmers, small businessmen and shopkeepers you have waived off their debts,” he said.
He also said that if you waive off the farm loans for 25 years of every farmers then also the amount will comes to Rs 16 lakh crore. And Modiji has waived the amount of Rs 16 lakh crore of 20 to 25 businessmen.
