Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Anurag Thakur on August 19 visited Himachal Pradesh for the first time and kickstarted the five-day ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra.’ After initially posting a recorded video message on having the responsibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to carry the task, Thakur on Thursday posted a picture from the rally declaring, “it has started.”

Addressing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jan Ashirwad Rally in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, Anurag Thakur appreciated the people who came to bless the party even amid heavy rains and inclement weather.

He said that with such blessings of the people, BJP’s victory march will continue uninterrupted, no matter how many obstacles the opposition puts in their way.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Bharatiya Janata Party is a party of workers and every worker is the strong soldier of the party. Today, the respect and blessings received by all the workers of the party during this Jan Aashirvad Yatra are overwhelming and emotional.”

Amurag Singh Thakur further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has honored the entire Himachal Pradesh in the world’s largest democracy by making him a cabinet minister in the cabinet at such a young age. “It is a matter of pride for all of us,” Thakur said.

The purpose of this 5-day Jan Ashirwad Yatra is to bequeath the policies of the Modi government to the people, and to expose the cunning machinations of the opposition.

“This yatra is the best opportunity to meet the public to take the feedback on the government policies and to counter the opposition propaganda,” said the minister.

In the ongoing Jan Ashirwad Yatra, Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday slammed Opposition parties and said that their agenda is spreading anarchy even in the Parliament.

Speaking about the Union Council of Ministers, the Minister said, “The new Council of Ministers of the Modi government has the highest ever number of backward classes— 27 OBC (35%), 12 SC (15%), 8 EST (10% ), and 11 women have been given ministerial posts.”

Also the youngest ever cabinet in the history of India has 5 ministers from minorities and representation of 24 states and union territories, including 5 ministers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur. Among the ministers are 13 lawyers, 6 doctors, 5 engineers, and 7 civil servants, while 7 new ministers have Ph.D., 3 have MBA degrees and 68 are graduates.

Meanwhile, as the state is gearing up for the possible third wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has directed all the Deputy Commissioners of the State to focus on contact tracing especially in the rural areas keeping in view the abrupt spike in the Covid-19 related cases. He was presiding over video conferencing with Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from Shimla today to review the covid-19 situation.

Thakur said that presently there were around 2700 active cases of coronavirus in the State and it was a matter of concern that the cases had increased in a very short period. He said that most of the cases had been reported from the rural areas whereas there were very few cases in the urban areas including major tourist places, which indicates that there had been no impact of tourist flow to different parts of the state. He said that social gatherings, marriage functions, feasts, etc. were the main reasons behind the spread of this pandemic.
