The demand for hotel rooms in Ahmedabad has surged ahead of the cricket World Cup final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Hotel room tariffs for the night of the match have seen a significant increase, with rates reaching up to Rs 2 lakh in top five-star hotels, and other hotels raising their prices five to seven times. The President of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Gujarat, Narendra Somani, noted the enthusiasm for the final not only in India but also from international visitors, including those from Dubai, Australia, and South Africa. With the Narendra Modi Stadium having a capacity of over 1.20 lakh people, it is anticipated that 30,000 to 40,000 spectators will travel from outside the city. As a result, hotel room prices have surged, ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh. Online rates for five-star hotels have even reached Rs 2 lakh per night. Additionally, airfares to Ahmedabad from various destinations have experienced a significant increase, with rates rising three to five times due to high demand for the cricket event.
