According to Nepal-based Khabarhub, Chinese telecom giant Huawei is conducting 5G testing in Nepal with little transparency, raising concerns about potential corruption and monopoly in the country’s communications sector.

The Chinese telecom firm, which the US and European countries regard as a security danger, was testing 5G technology in Nepal with little transparency, utilizing a frequency of 2600 MHz. The testing has sparked worries among authorities, prompting the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to launch an investigation into suspected corruption issues.

Since the corporation is already under investigation for alleged bribes and covert operations around the world, national security is a major worry in its global expansion attempts.
