In a significant development, Canadian police have apprehended four individuals, including an alleged gangster, in connection with the murder of Yuvraj Goyal, a 28-year-old Indo-Canadian. The incident, a daylight shooting, occurred on Friday morning in Surrey, British Columbia.

The victim, identified as Yuvraj Goyal, was tragically shot and killed shortly before 9 am on Friday. Goyal, a resident of Surrey, British Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) released details of the arrest on Saturday.

The individuals arrested in relation to the murder are Manvir Basram (23), Sahib Basra (20), Harkirat Jhutty (23), all residents of Surrey, and Keilon Francois (20), from Ontario. The suspects have been charged with first-degree murder.

Authorities responded to the shooting after receiving reports and found Goyal deceased at the scene. The investigation initially deemed the shooting as “targeted,” but investigators are working to determine the motive, considering Goyal’s lack of prior police involvement, particularly in gang-related activities.

The incident also involved a vehicle set ablaze shortly after the shooting, a common indicator of gang-related incidents. Harkirat Jhutty, one of the suspects, was previously part of a public warning issued by Surrey RCMP in December 2022, citing concerns over his connection to criminal activities and potential risks posed to the public.

This arrest comes amid ongoing concerns about gang-related violence in British Columbia, with recent incidents highlighting the severity of the issue in the region. The authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Yuvraj Goyal’s tragic murder, aiming to bring justice and closure to the affected community.
