Amid rapid increase in Covid-19 cases in the country, the AYUSH Ministry has issued fresh guidelines for people to inform what to eat during the pandemic to boost immunity and protection from the disease. In an exclusive interview with The Daily Guardian, Shripad Naik, Minister of State (Independent), AYUSH Ministry, talked about the efforts to control the deadly virus. Excerpts:
Q. Are the guidelines issued by the ministry getting a good response?
A. We issued the guidelines on the first day of the coronavirus spread because with immunity, we can beat this virus. We started the awareness campaign through social media. Homeopathy and Ayurveda remedies are helpful to control Covid-19. At Delhi Ayurveda Hospital, 138 patients suffering from coronavirus have been admitted out of which 48 got discharged within a week after getting Ayurveda treatment. Even the homeopathy medicine “Arsenicum Album 30” is giving positive signs. We have distributed this medicine through our ministry.
Q. Have you allowed clinical trials of Ayurveda and Homeopathy?
A. Our ancient science is Ayurveda. It can cure all diseases. So, we have given permission for clinical trials across India. We are getting good responses. Many Ayurveda hospitals have also started corona treatment besides clinical trials. This will help us in advance research to understand the pattern of the virus.
Q. Has any Ayurveda company asked for permission to make a vaccine?
A. So far, not a single company has applied for the permission for a vaccine but I am confident that through medical trials, we will find a result which will help the pharma companies make a vaccine.
