After the statement of the Home Minister, political stir in Jammu and Kashmir intensified. The statement given by the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah, in which he said that the process of removing AFSPA will be started in Jammu and Kashmir, Amit Shah said that the Narendra Modi government has prepared a seven-year blueprint, under which the central troops will be removed from law and order related work in Jammu and Kashmir and the Jammu and Kashmir Police will be given full responsibility of that area. Shah said that we are strengthening the Jammu and Kashmir Police, which is now leading all anti-terrorism operations along with the central forces.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police was not trusted by the people sitting in Delhi. Shah furthered the blueprint and said that after the elections, “we will definitely hand over the law and order related work completely to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, while (central) soldiers will gradually return to the barracks.” Shah also announced that with the situation in Jammu and Kashmir becoming normal, “we will soon consider reviewing the coverage of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) there.”

While the political stir in Jammu and Kashmir has started intensifying regarding this statement, reactions are coming from the National Conference, PDP, BJP regarding this statement. National Conference chief Omar Abdullah said, let them do it today itself. When they claim that the situation is completely normal, and militancy has ended, they claim that the separatist ideology has ended and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir was never better than this, then what are they waiting for. JDU:- GM Shaheen JDU State President said that the Home Minister has given a statement about removing AFSPA from Jammu and Kashmir. He said that this is a welcome step, but these things are not possible
right now.

PDP’s reaction to Home Minister’s statement on AFSPA PDP has always been talking about removing AFSPA and it is also in our manifesto that AFSPA should be removed from Jammu and Kashmir. While PDP spokesperson Sohail Bukhari said that we had formed the government with BJP in 2014, then we had put conditions to them that now the time has come to remove AFSPA from this state. PDP welcomes this decision, if the central government is really going to remove AFSPA from Jammu and Kashmir, then it will be a welcome step. BJP also welcomed it and said that only BJP government suffers from such problems and they have proved it by removing 370, 35 A. Rest PDP is just making empty paper horses.
