Haryana’s Home and Health Minister Anil Vij has levelled serious allegations against Congress MLA Maman Khan regarding the violence in Nuh. According to Vij, the Nuh police have issued a notice and called legislator Maman Khan for questioning on Wednesday, 30 August. Khan has been insured this notice in connection with a video that made the rounds on social media. In the video, Khan can be making certain remarks against the Nasir-Junaid murder case accused, Monu Manesar.
While the statements themselves were made during the Haryana Assembly’s budget session, the video resurfaced ahead of the Braj Mandal Yatra in Nuh that was slated for 31 July. Notably, Khan’s remarks had been deleted from the proceedings of the House. During a conversation with the media in the press lobby of the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, Home Minister Vij said that the way all the videos were shown in Pakistan in the Nuh violence, that matter is being thoroughly investigated. He said that in the interrogation of the people caught so far, it has come to the fore that all this work must have been orchestrated by the Congress party.
Vij alleged that those arrested have Congress connections and that the vandals in Nuh are Congress workers. He also added that investigators are also looking into places that the MLA visited in Nuh on 28, 29 and 30 July, ahead of the Yatra. The Home Minister has also made an allegation that violence took place “wherever Maman Khan went”. According to him, Khan remained in contact with people there. “The matter is being impartially investigated and we reveal to the public who the real masterminds of the violence were,” he said. Vij added that the damage caused by vandals at the cyber police station is also being assessed. It is being ascertained as to what records have been left and what have been missing. On a question related to Monu Manesar, the Home Minister said that all efforts are being made to question him. “If he has done something wrong then action will be taken against him also.”
Nuh MLA Aftab Ahmed took exception to the Home Minister’s comments and questioned the government about the same during zero hour. “The government is not discussing the matter in the House as it is pending in the court. At the same time, Home Minister Anil Vij is going out and giving a statement regarding the Congress and is telling the media that the Congress is avoiding discussions.”
