The Himachal Pradesh High Cour tin the case Court on its own motion Vs. State of H.P. & others observed and has stated in its bid with regards to the address the concern wherein it alleged illegal felling of forest trees. The court ordered the formation of an inquiry committee.
The bench comprising of Chief Justice M S Ramachandra Rao and Justice Ajay Mohan Goel was hearing the preset matter.
In the present case, the High Court took the suo motu cognizance of the letter which is addressed by one Raju from Mandi last year and the court appointed Advocate Abhishek Dulta as an amicus curia in the said matter. The petitioner in the plea stated that the illegal tree felling is being resorted to in these ecologically sensitive areas to construct roads.
Further, the said allegations were deputed by the respondents, wherein the court observed and has constituted the committee comprising of the Deputy Commissioner of District Mandi, the Superintendent of Police of District Mandi and the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, District Mandi in order to examine the veracity of the claims.
It has also been directed by the respondent authorities to fully cooperate with the committee and to file the report within the period of three months.
Accordingly, the court listed the matter for further consideration on October 10, 2023.
