26 tourists were rescued on Sunday late at night from the Kareri Lake in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Kangra and McLeodganj Police. They were stranded because of the rain.
The McLeodganj Police rescued about 26 individuals on Sunday night at 10 p.m. who were trapped because of heavy rain in the Kareri Lake area, according to Shalini Agnihotri, Superintendent of Police, Kangra. A few individuals were also rescued on Sunday night during the Bhagsunag-Naddi trip, according to information that was acquired from there.
Shalini Agnihotri, Superintendent of Police, Kangra, said, “At around 10 pm last night, we rescued around 26 persons in the Kareri Lake area who were stranded due to heavy rain.”
“We also got the same information from the Bhagsunag-Naddi trek and a few persons were rescued from there as well on Sunday evening,” she said while speaking to the sources on Monday.
Earlier this week, a landslide was reported in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul and Spiti district between Chatru and Dorno Nallah areas.
“DEOC Lahaul Spiti has informed an incident of Landslide Between Chatru and Dorni Nallah, Sub Division Lahaul, District Lahaul Spiti,” stated an HP-State Emergency Operation Centre report. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
The landslip rendered NH-505 impassable. According to the officials, after the repair work began, the road was restored in around 10 hours. The NH-505 (Samdu-Kaza-Gramphu) road was also congested. For ten to twelve hours, the road needed to be repaired.
