Twitter has changed its policy on blue tick verification resulting in the removal of blue ticks from multiple high-profile accounts. The change means that only individual Twitter users who pay for Twitter Blue will have verified blue checkmarks. As a result, several B-town celebrities, politicians and cricketers, including SRK, Amitabh Bachchan, Yogi, Rahul Gandhi, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, have lost their verified blue ticks from their Twitter accounts. Initially introduced in 2009 to help identify genuine accounts, the blue tick served as a way of protecting well-known individuals from impersonation and tackling false information.
