Highest single-day Covid recoveries recorded

56,110 recoveries registered in 24 hours; recovery rate tops 70%.

India’s Covid-19 recovery rate soared past 70% with 16,39,599 people having recovered from the disease so far in the country, while active cases comprise 27.64% of the total caseload. The case fatality rate has further declined to 1.98%. Meanwhile, total number of cases in the country has now shot up to 23,29,638 with 46,091 deaths.

Looking at individual tallies, India’s worst affected state Maharashtra reported a massive surge of 12,712 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the state also recorded its highest single-day recoveries, with 13,408 patients being discharged. Maharashtra’s total case tally reached 5,48,313, while the total recoveries have risen to 3,81,843. A high fatality surge of 344 deaths has pushed the total death toll to 18,650. The number of active cases stands at 1,47,513. Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 1,132 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 50 deaths. The recovery rate in the city now stands at 79%, while the doubling rate is at 86 days.

Delhi reported 1,113 new Covid-19 cases, 1,021 recoveries and 14 deaths in last the 24 hours. The total positive cases now stand at 1,48,504, including 1,33,405 discharged patients. The death toll in the city stands at 4153.

Kerala reported 1,212 fresh Covid-19 cases, including 22 health workers, and five deaths taking the infection count to 38,144 and the toll to 125. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the day’s recoveries stood at 880 and there were 13,045 active cases.

 Karnataka reported 7,883 new Covid-19 cases, 7,034 recoveries and 113 deaths, taking the total number of cases to 1,96,494, including 80,343 active cases, 1,12,633 recovered cases and 3,510 deaths till date; 2,802 cases reported in Bengaluru.

Haryana reported 797 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the state to 44,024 including 6,827 active cases, 36,694 have been recovered and 503 people died due to deadly virus. Recovery rate in the state stands at 83.35%.

Uttarakhand reported 439 new Covid-19 cases and 217 recovered cases in the last 24 hours, taking the positive cases tally to 10,886, including 4,020 active cases, 6,687 recovered cases and 140 deaths so far.

West Bengal reported 2,936 new Covid-19 cases and 54 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases rises to 1,04,326 and the death toll is at 2,203. There are 26,003 active cases.

Madhya Pradesh reported 870 new Covid-19 cases and 15 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 41,604, including 1,048 deaths and 9,317 active cases.

Jammu & Kashmir reported 482 new Covid-19 cases, 544 recoveries and eight deaths in the last 24 hours, taking total number of cases to 26,413 till date, including 7,392 active cases, 18,523 recovered cases and 498 deaths.
