In a proactive move to bolster security measures for the upcoming Republic Day, Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain chaired a comprehensive joint security meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR), Kashmir. The meeting witnessed the participation of officers from various security agencies, including Police, Army, CRPF, BSF, SSB, CISF, and other sister agencies.
The discussions focused on the meticulous planning and execution of security arrangements for vulnerable areas, individuals, and locations. Intelligence gathering, area domination, checkpoint inspections, and securing sensitive venues were among the central themes deliberated during the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, DGP Swain urged officers to ensure optimal security arrangements at all venues across Kashmir by leveraging all available resources effectively. Given the serious attempts by external elements to infiltrate terrorists into Jammu & Kashmir, he emphasized the need for the highest level of security arrangements and the fortification of security grids.
Expressing concerns over continuous attempts by Pakistan and its agencies to revive terrorism in parts of J&K, the DGP directed the creation of special monitoring to identify and take action against any element providing support to terrorists. Stressing the urgency of countering subversive attempts, he urged field formations to thoroughly analyze inputs from different agencies and take necessary measures to thwart such endeavors.
DGP Swain underscored the importance of revisiting security measures at vulnerable places and persons, emphasizing the need for robust human intelligence systems and the effective use of modern tools in tracking terrorists. He called for identifying the technology used by terrorists and preparing counter-strategies accordingly. Additionally, he directed the identification and dismantling of new forms of terror modules through lawful means.
Instructing officers to conduct a detailed review of all threat scenarios in their respective areas, DGP Swain emphasized the need for fixing responsibility within the hierarchy of officials. He stressed the importance of briefing on guidelines issued by senior officers to on-field personnel to ensure the peaceful conduct of Republic Day celebrations.
The meeting concluded with officers providing feedback on the security scenario in their respective jurisdictions, detailing the security measures adopted and implemented for Republic Day. ADGP CRPF Nalin Prabhat, ADGP L&O Vijay Kumar, GOC Kilo Force Major General Mohit Seth, GOC Victor Force Maj General Balbir Singh, IG CRPF (SOS) Srinagar Ajay Kumar Yadav, IG CRPF (KOS) Srinagar G K Verma, and IG BSF Kashmir were among the key officials present at the meeting.
