The American television series ‘High Desert’ will not return for a second season.
According to Deadline, a US-based media outlet, Apple has cancelled the series, which debuted on May 17 and was scheduled to run until June 21. Patricia Arquette took to Instagram on Saturday to convey the news, captioning the video, “It stinks.”
“A lot of you have asked about High Desert and if there was going to be a second season, we just found out that it won’t be coming back. That’s a sad bummer for all of us,” she said.
Arquette, who played Peggy, also thanked the writers, crew members and actors. “I loved Peggy and that punk rock world,” she added. “You can’t win ’em all and it sucks. I’ve got this cactus and we’re going to hug it out.”
According to Deadline, Arquette plays Peggy, an addict who resolves to start over by becoming a private investigator after the death of her loving mother, with whom she resided in the small desert hamlet of Yucca Valley, California.
It also stars Brad Garrett, Weruche Opia, Bernadette Peters, and Rupert Friend, as well as Christine Taylor, Matt Dillon, and Eden Brolin. Nancy Fichman, Katie Ford, and Jennifer Hoppe, who also executive produce, developed and wrote High Desert.
Stiller, Nicky Weinstock and Jackie Cohn, Molly Madden and Tom Lassally, and John Cameron also serve as executive producers. According to Deadline, Roach, who also executive produces, will helm all eight episodes of the Apple Studios production, with Michelle Graham serving as co-EP.
