BJP released a list of 15 names for the upcoming Lok sabha elections on Saturday, in which Dushyant singh was given ticket from Jhalawar-Baran. The party has nominated him for the fifth consecutive time; thereby showing the unwavering confidence in the former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. This sentiment was reiterated by the inclusion of her son, Dushyant Singh. However, the future role to be assigned to Raje by the high command is now a subject of speculation. Following the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled in July, the party will undergo the process of electing a new president. Additionally, appointments of governors are also anticipated in various states. It appears unlikely that she will re-enter state politics, considering her current role as National Vice President within the organization. While significant positions such as General Secretary and National President are still open, it remains to be seen what responsibilities she will be entrusted with. It would be intriguing to observe the responsibilities that the party will bestow upon her during this period.
Regarding Raje, she holds seniority over the other candidates who could be considered for the post of National President. there are several other candidates listed whom the high command may contemplate for the position of National President. Among them is the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who has been granted a Lok Sabha ticket from Vidisha. Additionally, the names of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis are also under consideration.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had conveyed a message before ticket distribution that MPs who have served two or three terms would not be granted tickets. However, this directive has not been enforced so far. MPs who have won thrice in Rajasthan will still be receiving tickets. Initially, there was uncertainty surrounding Dushyant Singh’s ticket. As a four-time MP, his involvement in the assembly elections had raised concerns. Raje herself had the opportunity to contest the assembly elections as a result of this development. There were expectations that the party might nominate her for a Lok Sabha seat instead of her son. Nevertheless, she succeeded in securing a fifth consecutive ticket for her son. Unfortunately, she was unable to secure tickets for the remaining supporters, most of whom were Raje loyalists.
Consequently, new faces may be fielded in most of the ten remaining seats. The high command has introduced seven new names in the declared list. Surprisingly, the names of former state president Satish Poonia and Rajendra Rathore have not been announced yet. There are speculations are rife that the party will provide an opportunity to some of its MLAs and senior candidates for the remaining 10 seats. They may also contest the assembly elections in their respective constituencies.
