Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for targeting the Tel Haim military base in Tel Aviv, located around 120 kilometers from the Lebanese border. According to Al Jazeera, Hezbollah used “qualitative missiles” in the attack, which it says hit a base associated with the Israeli military intelligence division. However, Hezbollah did not comment on the impact of the strike, and the Israeli military has yet to provide a statement.
Hezbollah Launches Multiple Attacks
Hezbollah carried out over 30 attacks, including rocket fire aimed at the Kiryat Shmona settlement and other towns near the Lebanon-Israel border. These attacks are part of a larger escalation, with Hezbollah continuing its offensive against Israeli targets.
Israeli Airstrike Hits Baalbek Civil Defence Centre
Earlier, Israeli forces launched an airstrike that targeted the civil defense center near Baalbek, located in Lebanon’s Baalbek-Hermel governorate. The strike hit while 20 personnel were present. Israeli Military Strikes Hezbollah Targets
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that their airstrikes in the past week resulted in the deaths of around 200 Hezbollah fighters and the destruction of 140 rocket launchers. These launchers were seen as posing a significant threat to Israeli civilians and military personnel in southern Lebanon. Among the key Hezbollah leaders killed were the heads of battalion operations and anti-tank weapons in Hezbollah’s Radwan Force.
IDF’s Ongoing Strikes Against Hezbollah
The IDF stated that these strikes have dealt a major blow to Hezbollah’s operations in southern Lebanon. “These attacks and assassinations constitute another damage to the ability of the terrorist organization Hezbollah to promote and carry out terrorist operations from southern Lebanon against the Israeli rear on the northern border,” the IDF said in a statement.
Escalating Tensions After Hamas Attacks
Since the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, Hezbollah has been consistently launching rockets and drones at northern Israel, with the aim of preventing the return of displaced Israeli citizens. More than 68,000 people in northern Israel have been displaced due to the ongoing violence.
Casualties from Hamas Attacks
The Hamas attacks on October 7 left at least 1,200 dead, with 252 individuals, including Israelis and foreigners, taken hostage. Additionally, two Israeli civilians have been held captive by Hamas since 2014 and 2015, along with the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014.
