Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has fired a fresh salvo in the popular 150-160 cc motorcycle segment in the country. The home grown manufacturer has launched the latest iteration of the Xtreme 160, in the market called the Xtreme 160R 4V. The bike will be available in three variants of Standard, Connected 2.0, and Pro with Upside Down forks.

Design
The Xtreme 160R 4V looks more sporty and muscular than other versions of the bike.
The aerodynamic design language is reflected in the new chiseled fuel tank, under cowl and the rear grip. The robotic headlamp is lowered and complimented by the new fairing winglets while the interchangeable seats with a single and split options promise to enhance the riding comfort and convenience of the users.

Features
The bike comes with an all-LED package that includes position lamp, Low Beam, High Beam, Tail lamp, Signature Tail Lamp and winkers. The inverted speedometer comes with over 20 features on display, such as bluetooth status, battery health status, service alert, gear position, ABS/engine malfunction, call/SMS/ missed call alerts, etc. The bike also gets Hero Connect 2.0 which delivers around 25 notifications about vehicle’s health and safety through the motorcycle’s display and mobile app. This include Security features like geo fencing, theft alerts & battery removal notification on the app. Other safety alerts are low fuel, over-speeding, topple, etc. The system also includes in-app navigation services, real-time vehicle tracking and option to share location. Apart from that it also keeps a log of riding behaviour through parameters such as over-speeding, harsh acceleration, braking, and vehicle idling. Finally you also get bluetooth enabled features such as call, SMS alerts & turn-by-turn navigation and find my vehicle.

Engine
The Xtreme 160R 4V comes with a 163cc 4 Valve Air-Oil cooled BS-VI (OBD-II+E20) compliant engine that generates maximum power output of 16.9 Ps @ 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 14.6Nm @ 6500 rpm. Hero claims the motorcycle boasts of class leading acceleration and reaches 0-60 kmph in just 4.41 seconds. The bike also comes with best-in-class timings in drag race (quarter-mile), 0-100 kmph and 0 to Top speed, making it the fastest 160cc motorcycle in its segment, according to Hero. The new Xtreme 160R 4V also gets best-in-class 37 mm via inverted front fork suspension by KYB (in the Pro Variant) and a 7-step pre-load adjustable rear suspension which ensures a distinct balance of comfort and control. The motorcycle offers sharp handling and boasts the lowest-in-class kerb weight of 144 kg (base & connected 2.0 variant) and 145Kg (Pro variant) along with petal disc brakes.

Ride Comfort
According to Hero the increased legroom for rider and pillion and the lowered handlebar with pillion split seat option and ample split rear grips provides even better comfort and safe feeling for both the rider and the pillion.

Variants
The Standard model of the bike comes with single channel ABS with front & rear disc and is being offered in blazing sports red and matt slate black colour options. The Connected 2.0 variant with single channel ABS with front & rear disc gets the matt slate black colour while the top Pro variant with single channel ABS with front & rear disc, USD forks and split seat is being offered in neon shooting star and matt slate black colours. The bike is priced at Rs. 1.27 lakh (Standard), Rs. 1.32 lakh (Connected 2.0) and Rs. 1.36 lakh (Pro) respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
