PM Modi carried the mortal remains of his mother Heera Ben, who passed away on Friday at the age of 100 in Gandhi Nagar of Gujarat.

Heeraben Modi, mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, passed away at the age of 100 in Ahmedabad’s UN Mehta Hospital. In an emotional homage to his mother’s “glorious” life, Prime Minister Modi said on Twitter that she told him something that he will never forget when they first met on the occasion of her 100th birthday.

“Work with intelligence and live life with purity,” the PM’s tweet added.

Heeraben was reportedly making progress on Thursday after the hospital issued a statement to that effect. Due to her health, she was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. After learning of his mother’s condition, the prime minister hurried to the hospital in Ahmedabad, where he spent the next hour and a half.

For Heeraben Modi’s passing, condolences have already started to flow in. PM Modi received condolences from Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, among other individuals.

On June 18, 1923, Heeraben Modi was born in Vadnagar, Mehsana, Gujarat. The third of her six children, PM Modi, she has five sons and a daughter. She shared a home with the prime minister’s younger brother Pankaj Modi in the Raysan hamlet close to Gandhinagar.
