With an increase in cross border shelling in Rajouri and Poonch sectors of Jammu, forward posts and villages adjacent to them were heavily shelled by Pakistan Army on Wednesday, said police officials.
According to the local reporters from Poonch, the heavy shelling in Poonch has forced many villagers to look for safe shelters, and recent shelling in Poonch has left many houses damaged. Police and reports from the area said that heavy shelling was going on in many sectors of LoC in the Poonch district, especially in Kirni, Shahpur and Qasba sectors.
It is in place to mention that it is the 13th violation of ceasefire by the Pakistani army in Rajouri and Poonch sectors in November so far. According to the data available with the Jammu and Kashmir administration, there have been over 3000 ceasefire violations by Pakistan all along the LoC in J&K in the current year and during these incidents, 20 civilians have died and hundreds have been injured including women and children.
All the political parties in J&K have been pressing for talks with Pakistan to save these villagers from the shelling incidents as they not only lose their lives but also their homes and livelihood as they cannot go to the fields for agricultural activities.
