As Delhiites enjoy relief from heatwave, the Indian Meteorological Department has again announced the latter’s comeback in the city, as IMD has warned, that the maximum temperature in Delhi might reach 47 degrees Celsius in the upcoming days and has thus, issued orange alert for NCR from June 11 till 13.

Yesterday, the maximum temperature in the city has reached the threshold of 43 degrees mark for second time as various places of national capital witnessed heatwave-like conditions.

As per weather department, the temperature was 3.5 notches above season’s average. Some areas of Delhi like Narela, Najafgarh, Palam, Lodhi Road witnessed the temperature between the range of 46-44 degree Celsius.

Moreover, IMD has issued orange alert from June 11 till 13, even though, it previously issued yellow alert for June 14 due to heatwave-like conditions.

Currently, the weather agency has forecast clear skies with heatwave conditions, with winds at speed of 25 to 35 km per hour on Tuesday.

Overall, both maximum and minimum temperature will touch 44 and 30 degrees Celsius respectively.

As per IMD’s classification, the heatwave happens, when maximum temperature touches 40 degrees celsius in plains, while at hills, the temperature should reach the threshold of 30 degrees celsius for two days continuously across a minimum of two stations within a meteorological subdivision.
