The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued guidelines for coronavirus survivors stating that “a holistic approach is required for follow up care and well-being of all post-Covid-19 recovered patients.”
The guidelines stated that patients should take medicines prescribed by AYUSH. “It is also suggested by the Ministry of AYUSH that the use of Chyawanprash in the morning (1 teaspoon) with lukewarm water/milk is highly recommended (under the direction of registered Ayurveda physician). As in the clinical practice, Chyawanprash is believed to be effective in the post-recovery period,” it stated. “At the individual level, they must continue to use the mask, hand sanitiser, and maintain respiratory hygiene, and physical distancing. Drink adequate amount of warm water (if not contra-indicated),” the guidelines mentioned.
It also suggested patients to do mild exercise including yoga, pranayama and meditation, as much as their health permits or as prescribed. Breathing exercises and morning or evening walk at a comfortable pace as tolerated, it stated.
The Ministry also advised: a balanced nutritious diet, adequate sleep and rest, and regular intake of prescribed medications. Guidelines under community level advised Covid-19 recovered individuals to share their positive experiences with friends and relatives, dispelling myths and stigma. Lastly, it stressed on regular follow-ups with physicians and taking necessary precautions at the early stage if symptoms persist.
