Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, has accorded approval to upgrade 113 high schools across the state to senior secondary schools. More schools will be upgraded in a similar manner after this first phase is completed.
A spokesperson said that all schools across Haryana with 80 or more students in standards 9th and 10th and with one acre of land or more available would be upgraded. Also included are all high schools at a distance of three kilometres or more from the nearest senior secondary schools
These schools, the spokesperson added, will be upgraded to ensure universal access and availability of education for all students up to class 12th, in accordance with the National Education Policy-2020. A total of 113 high schools in 64 blocks of 20 districts will be upgraded to senior secondary schools. Among these, four schools in Sirsa’s Dabwali block, four schools in Sirsa block, one school in Nathusari Chopta, two schools each in Rania and Odhan block will be upgraded.
Also due for an upgrade are 13 schools in Kurukshetra, 11 in Karnal, ten in Hisar and Jind as well as eight schools in Bhiwani, Gurugram, Fatehbad and Palwal. Other districts in the list include Panchkula, Ambala, Sonipat, Faridabad, Rewari, Rohtak and Panipat. The spokesperson also added that the Khattar-led BJP government is working to establish schools under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) scheme to enhance education in the state. The PM-SHRI scheme is a centrally sponsored programme for the development of schools, which- envisaged as model schools- meet the needs of 21st century education. Two schools (one senior secondary school and one primary school) will be opened in every block across the state and they will be developed as PM-SHRI Model Sanskriti School.
