With approximately one year remaining before the Haryana Assembly elections, political parties are working diligently to solidify their positions. The ongoing rivalry between two prominent political families continues to escalate, affecting the current BJP-JJP coalition government in the state.
Recently, BJP leader Chaudhary Birendra Singh and his son, Hisar MP Brijendra Singh, expressed their desire for the BJP to contest the upcoming elections independently, arguing that the party is strong enough to secure victory on its own. In response, JJP leaders have criticized the Singhs for commenting on the alliance. Digvijay Chautala, brother of JJP stalwart and Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, downplayed Brijendra Singh’s influence in Hisar, while emphasizing Dushyant Chautala’s contributions to the constituency.
Chaudhary Birendra Singh and his son have repeatedly argued against the BJP-JJP alliance, believing it could be detrimental to the BJP’s electoral prospects. Their statements have generated significant buzz in political circles. Additionally, Premlata, Birender Singh’s wife, has also criticized the JJP, expressing confidence in the BJP’s ability to win the upcoming elections without their support.
Both families have considerable political influence in Hisar and surrounding areas, often competing directly in elections. In the last Lok Sabha elections, Brijendra Singh defeated Dushyant Chautala while running as a BJP candidate. Premlata won the 2014 assembly election from the Uchana constituency.
As the rivalry between the families intensifies, BJP leaders are closely monitoring the situation. Anil Vij has stated that the party’s high command will ultimately make the final decision regarding the alliance with the JJP.
