Haryana Police is intensifying its efforts to apprehend individuals involved in demanding ransom, taking stringent action against them. These efforts have led to the arrest of four accused in Tohana, Fatehabad, and two accused in Palwal. Cases have been registered against the accused in the respective police stations.
Providing details about the operations, a government spokesperson stated that on December 17, the owner of a restaurant in Tohana market, Fatehabad, received a call on his mobile number from an individual claiming to be a member of an alleged gang. The caller demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh, threatening harm if the amount was not paid. Subsequently, three individuals on motorcycles fired shots at the shop and fled the scene. Utilizing CCTV footage and other evidence, Fatehabad Police identified and arrested all four accused within 72 hours, placing them behind bars. The motorcycle used in the crime was also recovered from the possession of the accused.
In a separate incident, two individuals demanding a ransom of Rs 20 lakh were apprehended in Palwal district. The accused approached a businessman, referred to as Shyamlal (fictitious name), in Tehsil Hodal of Palwal on December 16 at 10:30 pm. The unknown individuals demanded the ransom and threatened the businessman with harm. Following the threat, the individuals fired two shots at the businessman›s office and fled. The police acted swiftly, arresting the accused within 24 hours. Further investigations are ongoing in this case.
