The Nuh police have been intensively pursuing cybercriminals who have turned Mewat into a second Jamtara. Over two months, they’ve blocked 19,000 fake SIMs and apprehended 20 cybercriminals who have been incarcerated. The police are actively searching for 45 more suspects, some of whom have fled to other states. In response, four police teams have been deployed to conduct continuous raids following the arrests. This underscores the police’s unwavering commitment to curbing cybercrime in the region.
From the month of April, the police had started cracking down on those who commit online fraud by living in the villages of Mewat region. After the violence in Nuh on July 31, police work slowed down. But from August 20 onwards, police teams became active again. To detect cyber fraudsters, taking the help of cyber cell, they took dumps from mobile towers and checked how active the mobile numbers linked to SIMs issued from other states were.
A police team is deployed to catch cyber thugs. Efforts are being made to completely clean Nuh of the stain caused by the activities of thugs. Upon receiving the initial report, the police swiftly took action by blocking approximately 19,000 SIM cards. Subsequently, a rigorous tracing effort was launched to identify the mobile devices still using these SIMs. Information was diligently gathered from local residents, leading to the arrest of the cybercriminals involved, who were subsequently incarcerated. So far, four gang leaders have been caught along with their henchmen.
