The State Election Commission of Haryana has named international shooting star Gauri Sheoran and three-time Paralympian Amit Saroha as Youth Icons for the elections in the state. They have been entrusted with this responsibility for the municipal elections to be held on July 19, as well as for all the elections to be held for a year. They have been given this responsibility voluntarily, and they will be honoured for it. For one year, they will remain the youth icons for the Election Commission and will continue to motivate the youth.

Amit is a Paralympian athlete. He represented the country for the first time in the London Paralympics, while also representing the country in Rio and Tokyo. He has been awarded the Arjuna Award for his outstanding performance in the game and became the first athlete to win a medal for the country at the World Championships. Amit said that it is a matter of pride for me that I have been given the responsibility of motivating the youth in the elections. As a player, I will try to do it with the utmost sincerity. He said that the responsibility of the youth is always important in the elections, and we request all the youth to vote.

World University Games gold medalist Gauri Sheoran has also been made a Youth Icon. Gauri has earlier also been the brand ambassador of the National Child Health Program (Health Department) and the International Women’s Club. She has 26 international medals in her name ranging from World Cup, and World Championship to South Asian Games. Gauri has also received awards at the international level many times, and she did a lot of work even during the time of Covid. She said that nothing could be better for a sportsperson than to get a chance to bring forth youngsters like her. Be it the playground or the election, the contribution of the player is always important. I request the youth to vote. Your vote is important and only you can form a good government. New and first-time voters must come forward and cast their votes.
