Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur conducted a video conference with senior officers across the state, providing necessary guidelines and reviewing progress in key areas.
During the meeting, Kapur emphasized the top priority of making the state drug-free. He commended the “Drug-Free Village” initiative in Fatehabad, where a group of women in 10 villages actively monitors and combats drug use, especially during late-night hours.
The villages involved in this initiative include Matana, Kumhariya, Bhoda Hoshanak, Dhani Thoba, Dhani Chanan, Khan Mohammad, Banawali Sottar, Sirdhan, Gillakheda, and Banawali of Fatehabad district.
he youth in these villages have committed to abandoning drugs by focusing on education and sports, while the elders engage in work and farming, serving as an inspiration for other villages. Kapur appreciated this initiative and encouraged other districts to undertake similar efforts.
Regarding lane driving, Kapur urged officers to collaborate with transport unions to encourage compliance, particularly among drivers of heavy goods vehicles. He emphasized strict legal action, including the filing of FIRs, for disobedience.
The video conference also addressed police station feedback cells. Kapur stressed the importance of monitoring these cells and personally contacting complainants who expressed dissatisfaction with police actions. He emphasized the need for transparency in handling cases and ensuring fair treatment for all.
The discussion extended to the Gram Prahari Scheme, where Kapur directed village guards to prioritize areas identified as hotspots for molestation based on feedback from women.
He highlighted the significance of “crowdsourcing” or utilizing community input to enhance safety measures for women. Additional Director General of Police, Superintendents of Police, and other senior officers attended the meeting.
