Ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections, all political groups are actively vying for victory. Amidst this competition, the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Nayab Singh Saini, who assumed the role of Chief Minister approximately two weeks ago, as its candidate for the Karnal bye-polls.

Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal had announced his resignation in the Assembly House on March 12 after the formation of the new government, vacating the seat for Naib Singh Saini. Further, the BJP high command has given nod to the announcement of the Manohar Lal by fielding Nayab Singh Saini from Karnal seat. According to the schedule released by the Election Commission, voting on this seat is to be held on May 25 and Since the polls draw near, Naib Saini is actively engaged in election preparations.

It is noteworthy that Naib Singh Saini is currently the MP from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha from where BJP has now made Naveen Jindal, who quit Congress and joined BJP, its candidate. Apart from being the Chief Minister, Naib Singh Saini currently also holds the portfolio of Haryana BJP State President. Since he is not an MLA and technically if someone is appointed the CM then he is required to be elected an MLA from any seat within 6 months. Nayab Singh Saini is confidant and in good books of former CM Manohar Lal. On the other hand, it pertinent to mention that Ranjit Singh Chautala, an independent MLA, resigned from the membership of the assembly before the announcement of contesting elections from Hisar on BJP ticket.

However, the scenario pertaining to the acceptance of his resignation remains blurred.
