With an aim to eradicate the menace of bullying, Haryana CM Manohar Lal on Sunday launched an anti-bullying campaign by unveiling social media handles of Faridabad Police.
The Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages of Faridabad Police would help the people in reporting bullying at home, in neighbourhood, schools, colleges and workplace.
The initiative is a part of ‘Teen Age Police’ programme of Faridabad police. The idea is to eliminate the scope of violence and intimidation at interpersonal and group relations at an early stage.
The campaign will particularly target teenagers who are the prime victims of bullying. The menace of bullying destroys a victim’s confidence, impairs their personality development, stunts their social intelligence and drives them to depression.
Under the campaign, the police would create awareness among the people the prevalence of bullying in the society. The counselling of those indulging in bullying would be done with the help of NGOs working with youth-at-risk. Strict action will also be taken against the violent and incorrigible.
The anti-bullying campaign is first in the series that will later cover other issues particularly baneful for teenagers like drugs, gambling and alcohol addiction, online frauds and human trafficking. Through the initiative, teenagers will be encouraged to develop social skills, empathy and a spirit of voluntary compliance to law so that they grow into productive adults.
