After the announcement of Lok Sabha elections, the Model Code of Conduct has been implemented and the ruling saffron BJP is busy in election preparations with a calculative strategy in order to win the forthcoming polls while on the other hand, the main opposition party Congress has not yet opened its cards, remaining undecided on finalisation of candidates. Since the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have decided to contest the polls in a collaboration as a part of the alliance, the AAP stalwart and former Rajay Sabha MP, will contest the Lok Sabha polls from Kurukshetra constituency.

Apart from this, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) will contest elections on all 10 seats but no candidate has been declared so far  while INLD has finalized the names of two candidates on Kurukshetra and Hisar seats. Following the schedule, voting for 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana will be held on May 25. Counting will take place on June 4. The nomination will start from April 29. The last day for nomination will be May 6. Nominations will be withdrawn till May 9.

In a run to the forthcoming parliamentary parliamentary polls, the BJP high command has declared candidates for 10 all Lok Sabha seats on-  February 13 and  February 2, making a total of 8 candidates who succeeded in winning assembly and parliamentary polls held in 2019 contest the upcoming polls. Of the total name of candidates the BJP has declared from Haryana, six are new faces- Hisar, Sonipat, Sirsa, Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Karnal while four of the sitting MP’s have been repeated as contestants on their previous seats.  The list of the four of the sitting MP’s fielded in the polls includes the names of Arvind Sharma, Rao Inderjeet, Krishan Pal Gurjar and Dharambir Singh who will contest the polls from Rohtak, Gurugram, Faridabad and Bhiwani-Mahendergar.

Notably,  Krishan Pal Gurjar and Rao Inderjeet held the portfolios of Union Ministers of state. In this way, in view of the 6 Lok Sabha constituencies for which the BJP High Command has finalized the names of the candidates denying tickets to two of the sitting BJP MPs. Similarly, the list of sitting MLAs includes the names of Mohan Lal Badauli, Manohar Lal, Ranjeet Singh and Abhay Singh Chautala who will contest the polls from Sonipat, Karnal, Hisar and Kurukshetra. It is  pertinent to mention that Manohar LaL and Rajneet Singh Chautala have resigned from the membership of the assembly. Similarly, Ashok Tanwar, who bid a farewell to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAM) and joined the BJP a few days ago, has been fielded from the reserved seat Sirsa.  Apart from this, a ticket for another reserved seat has been given to the wife of former MP and late Ratan Lal Kataria.

Former Congress stalwart Naveen Jindal has been declared a candidate by the BJP on remaining Kurukshetra parliamentary seats. Just ahead of the declaration of the tickets, Naveen Jindal, a former Congress heavyweight and two time former MP, bid a farewell  to the party and joined the saffron BJP.  While BJP MLA from Rai, Mohan Lal Badauli has been made a candidate from Sonipat Lok Sabha constituency. It has been decided to field independent Ranjit Singh, who supports BJP and got a place in the cabinet, to contest the Hisar Lok Sabha elections. However, BJP veteran and contender for Lok Sabha ticket from Hisar, Kuldeep Bishnoi, has expressed his displeasure over giving him ticket from Hisar. Apart from the above, INLD MLA Abhay Singh Chautala has decided to contest the elections from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat, hence four sitting MLAs have decided to contest the elections.

It is pertinent to mention that three of the sitting BJP MPs including Sunita Duggal, SC Kaushik and Sanjay Bhatia have been denied tickets.  Former IRS officer and sitting MP Sunita Duggal has been denied ticket keeping in view of a lot of resentment against her among the voters in Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency  and the BJP high command was also pretty aware of this.
