Indian Captain Rohit Sharma, Coach Rahul Dravid and Selector Ajit Agarkar had a detailed discussion with regard to the squad of India’s T20 World Cup team just previous Week.
As per Indian Express report, the meeting was held in BCCI headquarters. The meeting has recently taken place in the middle of the IPL 2024.
During the 2 hour-long meeting, the spot of fast bowling allrounder Hardik Pandya in the World Cup squad was a major point of discussion.
However, one of the biggest concerns shared by the trio was with regard to his bowling quality. Who has been performing badly with the ball this IPL Season. So far, he hasn’t bowled any single over against teams Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. So far, has got the ball in only one over, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. And according to a Hindustan times report, it further says he bowled three overs but was hit with sixes by MS Dhoni. Thus, his form continues to remain a concern.
As a result, the selectors including the trio are of the opinion they’ll take Hardik into consideration for the T20 world cup, if he performs regularly well with the bowl in the IPL.
Amidst the concern in relation to Hardik Pandya, the selectors are considering Shivam Dube for the Indian squad. Who is lately performing well in the 2024 edition of the IPL. But considering his usage as an impact player by CSK. The selectors continue to observe him.
As result, the management is hoping to get his form back considering the balance he lends to the playing XI.
