Complaints regarding use of cheap quality materials in the construction of multistorey buildings by the group housing societies and builders continue to surface, particularly in the districts falling under the National Capital Region (NCR), and Gurugram emerges on the top, followed by Jhajjar, Faridabad and Sonipat districts.

The state government has issued an order regarding the structural audit of group housing societies and builders. The Town and Country Planning has identified five housing societies of Gurgaon for the structural audit after receiving complaints from the residents.

Earlier, the BJP-JJP government had invited complaints from residents after two residents died in a roof collapse at Chintels Paradiso Society of Sector-109, Gurugram. The housing societies where the audit will be conducted include Raheja Vedanta, Raheja Atharwa, Brisk Lumbini, M3M Woodshire and Mahindra Aura. The audit will be conducted in collaboration with IIT-Roorkee.

The department concerned has received complaints regarding the use of substandard material in multi-storey buildings in NCR towns. As many as 64 complaints have been received by presidents of societies. A total of 58 complaints regarding the use of substandard material in construction of buildings were received in Gurugram while the rest six were reported in Faridabad, Sonipat and Jhajjar districts.

Further directions have been issued to Gurgaon district town planner to list down the projects where complaints have received regarding use of substandard material which causes cracks seepage in the high-rise buildings.

Also, several complaints have been received regarding occupation of high-rise buildings without obtaining occupation certificates in NCR region and the list includes 28 projects. Gurugram once again emerges on the top in terms of such complaints, followed by Faridabad and Sonipat with seven and two complaints, respectively.
