In a breathtaking spectacle, the world-renowned tourist destination of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir was blanketed in a pristine layer of snow on Friday, marking the first snowfall of the season. Simultaneously, the Machil sector of Kupwara also experienced a fresh dusting of snow, transforming the region into a winter wonderland.

Gulmarg, celebrated for its mesmerizing landscapes during the snowfall season and the blooming lupine flowers from mid-June to late July, came alive with the magical touch of winter. Enthusiastic locals and visitors showcased their artistic flair by crafting intricate snow sculptures, adding to the charm of this picturesque locale.

Not just a visual delight, Gulmarg is renowned for its status as a winter sports hub. As the most sought-after tourist destination, it has also become a skiing haven, attracting adventure enthusiasts from around the globe.

In February 2022, Gulmarg gained global attention with the inauguration of the world’s largest igloo cafe, captivating tourists with its unique appeal. Building on this, 2023 witnessed the introduction of a glass igloo restaurant, further elevating the hospitality offerings in the region.

Beyond its snow-laden landscapes, Gulmarg boasts cultural and historical treasures, including St Mary’s Church, Maharaja Palace, Maharani Temple, and the famed Gulmarg Gondola. The recent snowfall signals the onset of a season that promises to enchant visitors with the perfect blend of natural beauty and thrilling winter activities.
