Re-polling took place at polling booth number 220 in Parthampura, Santrampur, Mahisagar district’s Dahod, on Saturday following the cancellation of polling due to a viral video on social media. The Election Commission of India ordered the re-polling, which is being conducted with tight police security.

Last week, a video featuring Vijay Bhabor, the son of BJP leader Ramesh Bhabor, with an EVM machine went viral, leading to demands from Congress candidate Prabhavben Taviyad for re-polling. The district administration has ensured impartiality and security measures for the re-voting process, with police raising awareness among the public.

ASP Mahisagar, Vivek Bheda, mentioned, “Re-polling is being held at booth no. 220 of Parthampura. People are exercising their right to vote. Collector mam and the police staff together created awareness among the public of repolling in the area.”

Vijay Bhabor was detained by the police on Wednesday after the video of him live-streaming from inside a polling booth under the Dahod Lok Sabha constituency in Gujarat surfaced on social media.

Gujarat voted for 25 out of 26 seats in the third phase of the general elections on May 7. The third phase included constituencies from various regions of the state.

Additionally, repolling at four polling stations under the Multai Assembly constituency of Betul Lok Sabha in Madhya Pradesh was conducted on May 10. The Election Commission of India ordered the repolling after EVMs were damaged in a bus fire.
