The initial list of 160 candidates for the Gujarat Assembly elections was made public by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday.

Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister, will run for office in the Ghatlodia district. The candidates’ identities were revealed during a joint press conference that was addressed by Union Ministers Mansukh Mandviya and Bhupender Yadav and State BJP Chief CR Paatil.

Rivaba Jadeja, the cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, received a ticket and will run for office in the Jamnagar North district.

Hardik Patel, a former Congress leader who switched to the BJP, will run for office in the Viramgam district.

Harsh Sanghavi, the minister of the interior for Gujarat, will run for office in the Majura district.

Notably, the BJP held its Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on Wednesday at its headquarters under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. National president JP Nadda, Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, the former chief minister of Karnataka, BS Yediyurappa, and others arrived at the party headquarters for the meeting.

Vijay Rupani, the former chief minister of Gujarat, and three other BJP officials quickly declared that they would not run in the state’s upcoming assembly elections in order to make room for the fresh faces.

Rupani was in office as Gujarat’s chief minister from August 2016 until September 2021. He now represents Rajkot West as an MLA.

On Tuesday night, the BJP core group met at Nadda’s house to discuss the upcoming elections in Gujarat.

The BJP is running for reelection in Gujarat, where the state has long been their stronghold.

Gujarat will hold elections on December 1 and December 5.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is making attempts to perform well in the elections while Congress is attempting to unseat the BJP.
