Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of a patient inside a ward at GTB Hospital in Delhi, police reported on Monday. The incident took place on Sunday, and a case was registered on July 14 following the statement of Tarranum Malik, who reported that her brother, Riyazuddin, was shot by an unidentified person in Ward 24 of Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, where he was receiving treatment.
A PCR call was made, and police obtained video footage from cameras near the ward and on the ground floor, revealing four people entering the hospital’s emergency gate. Another patient in the same ward, who had been shot on June 12, indicated he had a rivalry with the Hasim Baba gang and believed the attackers had mistakenly killed the patient opposite him.
Based on the video footage, the suspects were identified. Police also tracked their Instagram IDs, mobile numbers, and call detail records (CDRs). During a raid in Laxmi Garden, Loni, Uttar Pradesh, one suspect, 20-year-old Faiz from Loni, Ghaziabad, was apprehended and interrogated.
Faiz revealed during sustained questioning that Faheem, alias Badshah Khan, was the mastermind behind the incident. Another suspect, Farhaan, was later arrested in Chauhan Banger. The suspects disclosed that Faheem had gathered the group at his flat in Babar Pur, Delhi, and instructed them to kill another patient in Ward 24, not the deceased. He also provided instructions on how to flee the hospital post-shooting. Faiz supplied the bike used for the operation. After the incident, Moin Khan and Faiz returned to their home in Loni.
Both accused have been apprehended, and further investigation is ongoing, according to police.
