A tragic accident claimed the lives of three men in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district after their car, guided by Google Maps, veered onto an under-construction flyover and plunged into the Ramganga River.

Key Details:

  • The incident occurred on Saturday when the victims, identified as Vivek and Amit, along with a third individual, were traveling from Gurugram to Bareilly to attend a wedding.
  • Relying on GPS for navigation, their car mistakenly drove onto the incomplete flyover and fell 50 feet into the shallow river.
  • Locals discovered the wreckage and the deceased occupants the following morning, notifying the police.

Police Statement:

  • “At 9:30 AM, a damaged car was found in the Ramganga River. Upon inspection, it was identified as a Wagon R, possibly a hired taxi. The vehicle had fallen from the incomplete bridge,” said a police official.
  • The bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem, with the identities of Vivek and Amit confirmed. Efforts to identify the third victim are ongoing.

Families Demand Accountability:

  • Relatives of the victims have accused the construction department of negligence, questioning why the unfinished bridge lacked barricades or warning signs.
  • They are demanding an FIR against the officials responsible for leaving the site unsafe, citing gross negligence as a contributing factor to the tragedy.
