Jammu & Kashmir Chief Secretary B.V.R. Subrahmanyam on Sunday chaired the High-Level Committee (HLC) meeting of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) to review the preparations being made for a safe and hassle-free Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2021. He passed directions to SASB to undertake preparations for an expected footfall of 6 lakh pilgrims this year.

Security agencies have also been asked to put in place the adequate security grid for the holy Amarnath yatra, keeping in view the history of the terror attacks on this pilgrimage and continuous attempts by the Pakistani side to push in terrorist into the Indian soil so that they can vitiate the atmosphere after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Amarnath yatra was cut short in 2019 after security forces had recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the yatra route ahead of abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A and in 2020 it was restricted to small numbers due to the Cobvid-19 pandemic.
