Fukrey 3, the third edition of the Fukrey franchise, was released in theaters on Thursday and had a strong opening weekend. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Fukrey 3 earned Rs 8.50 crore on its opening day at the box office.Fukrey 3’s box office numbers are significant given that it was released during the reign of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.
According to Bollywood Hungama, the second installment of the Fukrey franchise, Fukrey Returns, was released in 2017 and grossed Rs 8.10 crore on its opening day. During its theatrical run, the film earned Rs 80.32 crore. The first installment, Fukrey, which was released in 2013, only made Rs 36.5 crore throughout its theatrical run.
Fukrey 3 debuted with Vivek Agnihotri’s The Vaccine War, and while the two films appeared to be competing, The Vaccine War only made Rs 1.3 crore on its first day. Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and launched earlier this month, is still doing well at the box office, despite the fact that tickets are currently available on a ‘buy one, get one free’ basis. Jawan earned Rs 5.50 crore on its 22nd day, bringing the film’s total domestic earnings to Rs 581.43 crore.
