FTX founder Samuel Bankman Fried has been arrested on Monday by the Bahamas authorities in the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange.

According to the Bahamas government, a criminal charge was registered by the United States prosecutors after which Fried was arrested.

“SBF’s arrest followed receipt of formal notification from the United States that it has filed criminal charges against SBF and is likely to request his extradition,” the Bahamas government stated.

Meanwhile, United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Attorney Damian Williams confirmed his arrest.

Taking to Twitter United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Attorney tweeted, “USA Damian Williams: Earlier this evening, Bahamian authorities arrested Samuel Bankman Fried at the request of the US Government, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SNDY. We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time.”

Moreover, over the sudden implosion of FTX Samuel Bankman Fried has been under investigation by the Justice Department.

However, on 11 November the USD 32 billion worth company FTX filed for bankruptcy.
