The Ghaziabad police in Uttar Pradesh reportedly arrested four members of a household on Monday for allegedly killing their pet dog.

In a viral video on social media, a group of men are seen hanging a dog from a chain outside of their home in the Ilaichipur neighbourhood of Tronica City in the Loni town of Ghaziabad.
The accused have been identified as Dheeraj Kumar, his son Atul Kumar, and Dheeraj’s two nephews, Sumit and Nikhil Kumar. According to authorities, no arrests have been made so far.
A group of men are seen tugging ropes connected to the dog’s neck and dangling the dog from a chain in the 33-second footage.
The event occurred in April of this year, according to the police, who also stated that they were aware of the footage. Additionally, they have summoned the defendants based on the investigation, and a search for them has begun, according to police.
“We took cognizance of the video, and it was related to a resident who owned a Doberman. We have also registered an FIR against four people on a complaint by one of their neighbours. Strict legal action will be taken against the accused,” said Iraj Raja, Superintendent of Police (rural).
According to authorities, a case has been losged under sections 3 and 11(1)(l) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, after a FIR was filed at the Tronica City police station on Monday.

Notably, the Noida authorities modified their pet ordinance on Saturday to reduce dog bite cases in the city. According to Ritu Maheshwari, CEO of the Noida Authority, owners of dogs or cats that attack someone will be fined 10,000 rupees. The decree will take effect on March 1, 2023.
