Punjab Congress continues to gain strength in the region with the joining of esteemed personalities into the party fold ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In a significant juncture today, former Additional Director General of Punjab Police, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, officially aligned with the Indian National Congress, in a ceremony graced by senior party dignitaries in Delhi. Accompanied by his spouse, Dhillon, who recently opted for voluntary retirement from the Punjab Police, embraced the Congress with fervor and dedication. The induction event, attended by senior Congress leaders including Devendra Yadav, the Punjab Congress in-charge, signifies a pivotal moment in Dhillon’s transition towards a new phase of public service.
Moreover, Punjab Congress also welcomed back Rajinder Singh Raja Birkalan into its ranks, alongside numerous other eminent political figures, during a press briefing at Punjab Congress Bhawan Chandigarh. The occasion witnessed the presence of PPCC Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and CLP Leader Partap Singh Bajwa.
Expressing his gratitude and resolve, Dhillon remarked, “I have devoted nearly two decades of my life to serving my state as a law enforcement officer. Today, with the blessings of Rahul Gandhi ji, I embark on a new odyssey to contribute to our nation’s welfare through the Congress party.”
Dhillon recounted his encounters with Rahul Gandhi during occasions such as the Punjab leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra and the latter’s pilgrimage to the Golden Temple. These interactions deeply influenced Dhillon, inspiring him to align his endeavors with the Congress party’s vision for a prosperous India. Rajinder Singh Raja Birkalan conveyed his appreciation, stating, “I have always been an integral part of the Congress family and have resonated with its ideology through time. I extend my gratitude to the party leadership for enlisting me in this endeavor against injustice and despotism, as we endeavor to oust AAP in Punjab and the BJP at the national level.”
Accompanying Rajinder Singh Raja Birkalan, Harmanpreet Singh (Dikki Jeji), Former Chairman of Market Committee Sangrur; Avtar Singh Sheron, Former President of District Kisan Cell Sangrur and President of Co-operative Society Sheron; Naresh Sharma Buddhi Jeevi, President of Sangrur; Naveen Kumar Bunty, Former MC of Sunam; Sardar Balkar Singh, Retired Police Inspector; Baljeet Singh Dhindsa, Sarpanch of Taranji-kheda; Malkeet Singh Tohlawal, Former General Secretary of Kisan Cell Punjab; and Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal Birkalan also pledged their allegiance to the party on this day.
