Former Janata Dal (United) leader Ajay Alok is slated to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday in the national capital.
Ajay Alok’s primary membership in the JD(U) was suspended last year owing to anti-party conduct. In a significant political step in Bihar, the ruling Janata Dal (United) has ousted its spokesperson Ajay Alok from the party’s core membership.
JD(U) suspended state general secretaries Anil Kumar and Vipin Kumar Yadav from primary membership in addition to Ajay Alok. “The state general secretaries of the party, Anil Kumar and Vipin Yadav, as well as the party’s spokesperson, Ajay Alok, have been relieved of their posts and suspended from the party’s primary membership.” Party leader Jitendra Neeraj has also been suspended from the party’s primary membership. “This decision was made to strengthen the party and maintain party discipline,” Bihar JD (U) leader Umesh Singh Kushwaha told reporters.
“There have been complaints in recent months about running programmes against the interests of the party and misleading the workers.” Some office-bearers were asked to cease from such measures, yet anti-party activities continued,” according to the statement.
Following his dismissal, Ajay Alok thanked the party for relieving him and wished them well. “Badi der kar di meherbaan aate aate. I am thankful to the party for relieving me. It was a long association with the party and was a good experience. All my best wishes with you,” said Ajay.
