The Central Bureau of Investigation has addressed the Supreme Court, challenging the bail granted to Lalu Prasad Yadav in instances related to the alleged fodder scam. The petition will be heard by the court on August 25.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal head was granted bail in at least four cases by the Jharkhand High Court, and all of the orders were contested by the CBI.

In both cases, he was convicted, and his appeals are pending in various courts. Funds earmarked for animal feed were embezzled from numerous government treasuries across undivided Bihar in the 950-crore fodder scandal. The Animal Husbandry Department allegedly supplied fake bills to accomplish this.

Amit Khare, a Chaibasa Deputy Commissioner, discovered the fraud in 1996, while Lalu Yadav was the chief minister.
