Floods in Haryana have put brakes on the activities of politicians. Two parties on Friday announced that they had been forced to cancel their rallies in the state. The swollen Ghaggar and the rising water levels of the Sirsa and Yamuna have forced both the Congress and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) to cancel rallies in Sirsa and Faridabad. The Congress party was to hold a rally on 30 July 30 in Sirsa, Haryana. This rally was organised by party leader Kumari Selja’s supporters. Randeep Surjewala and Kiran Chowdhary were also expected to attend the gathering. However, keeping in mind the worsening flood situation in Sirsa, the party has cancelled its rally to be held in Sirsa on Sunday. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ally, the JJP was also supposed to hold a rally in the Faridabad Lok Sabha constituency on the same day, but the party has decided to postpone the meeting due to flooding in many villages both the Faridabad and Palwal districts, owing again to the rising waters the Yamuna River. The party will now hold its rally for the Faridabad Lok Sabha will be held in the Mohana village in the Prithla Assembly constituency on 20 August.
The JJP’s state president, Nishan Singh, said that under Mission 2024, the party has decided to hold rallies in all Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. “The villages of the rally site and the surrounding villages are affected by floods, so it was not considered appropriate to hold the rally. Local party workers are engaged in helping the victims in the flood-affected areas,” Singh said. The Haryana Congress is also slated to hold a public meeting in Hisar city and the Hooda faction will participate in it. Let us tell you that due to the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections in the state, all the parties are engaged in election preparations. JJP is holding rallies in every Lok Sabha constituency. BJP has also held two big rallies in the state so far. Meanwhile, the Congress has launched a joined hands campaign in the state.
