Several parts of Delhi-NCR were blanketed in dense to very dense fog on Wednesday morning, resulting in very poor visibility. Trains and aircraft travelling to and from the nation’s capital have been hampered by the heavy fog.  ANI reports that the limited visibility has caused numerous planes at Delhi Airport to be delayed and affected train operations. For Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange advisory and a yellow alert for dense to very dense fog and visibility ranges from 50 to 200 metres, fog is considered dense.

Flights that do not meet CAT III (Category III) norms may experience difficulties, according to an advice issued by Delhi Airport, even as landing and takeoff operations continue. In order to find out the most recent flight information and if their flights comply with CAT III regulations, passengers are recommended to get in touch with their individual carriers.

Aircraft that meet CAT III compliance standards have sophisticated sensors and technology that enables them to fly in poor visibility situations like thick fog. To protect the safety of passengers and crew, flights that do not comply may experience delays or cancellations.

Due to the heavy fog, visibility is poor in several parts of the city, which affects traffic flow and delays commuters who leave early in the morning. In the nation’s capital, the fog caused multiple train cancellations and delays also.
