On Wednesday, five young men who were taking part in a temple’s yearly rite perished in a nearby pond, according to the police.
When priests and volunteers approached the water and formed a circle as part of a ceremony, the accident happened, and one of the group members perished. Four additional people attempted to save him, but they too were submerged, according to authorities.
When senior law enforcement and revenue officials came, firefighters and rescue workers pulled the remains to safety and transported them for autopsies to Chrompet government hospital.
