Divulging more details in this regard, an expert Hemant Kumar who has written the aforementioned letter seeking the parliamentary seat-wise updated statistics of the registered voters to be made public, said that under the Representation of the People Act, after the notification of elections in a state is issued, the process of filing nominations by the candidates which lasts for a week, the nominations can be filed by the candidates till 3 pm on the last day of the same. Similarly, new names can be added to the voter lists till the same date. This is done according to Section 23 (3) of the Public Representation Act, of 1950. Since the last date for filing nominations for elections on all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana was May 6, the names of new voters could be included in the voting list only till April 26. He said that this year, based on the publicly available voter numbers as of January 1, 2024, as far as the 10 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state are concerned, Gurgaon Lok Sabha constituency is the largest constituency in the state in terms of voters. Where currently the total number of voters was 2,505,345 while the lowest number of voters was 1,747,463 in the Sonipat Lok Sabha constituency.
