The five-day crash course on the New Criminal Laws-2023 for the 10th batch of 89 police officers and officials from various units of Jammu District concluded today at the District Training Centre (DTC) in the District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu.
The course, designed to equip police personnel with essential knowledge of the newly promulgated laws by the Central Government, aimed to prepare them for the laws’ implementation starting July 1, 2024. Participants included SHOs, Incharge Police Posts, Investigating Officers, and other staff from the District Police Jammu.
Organized under the directives of the Police Headquarters J&K, the primary objective of the course was to ensure that police officers and officials are well-versed with the key provisions of the new Criminal Laws-2023, enabling effective on-ground implementation.
The concluding ceremony was attended by SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar, IPS, along with SP Headquarters Jammu Sh. Irshad H. Rather, JKPS (Course Coordinator), and DySP DAR Jammu Sh. R.S. Kotwal.
In his address, SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar underscored the importance of understanding the three new Criminal Laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita-2023 (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita-2023 (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam-2023 (BSA)—emphasizing their crucial role in enhancing law enforcement practices.
Certificates were distributed to the officers and officials who successfully completed the course. This milestone marks the successful training of approximately 1,200 police personnel in the New Criminal Laws-2023 and investigation techniques at DTC, DPL Jammu, including the recent completion of the 10th batch on New Criminal Laws-2023 and the 6th batch on “Practical Demos for Investigating Officers regarding New Criminal Laws & NDPS Act.”
