In the run-up to Lok Sabha Elections-2024, the District Election Office held the first stage of Randomization of Polling Personnel, here, tuesday, in the presence of political parties, said District Electoral Officer, Aashika Jain.

Divulging the details, she said that initially the number of Presiding officers, Assistant Presiding Officers and Polling Officers had been decided by the computer software for training purposes, and the constituencies would be decided during the second randomization that was tentatively held on May 16. The allotment of constituencies to the polling staff (Polling Parties) would be completed on May 31 during the third randomisation while they would depart from the dispatch centres to maintain the secrecy of duty places.

District has 905 polling booths including the booths falling in Chamkaur Sahib, Rajpura and Ghanuar Assembly Constituencies. By reserving 50 per cent additional polling staff for all these, a total of 5448 persons have been deployed that would undergo training from May 5, 2024, at three locations. Out of these training locations, two each have been set up at Government College Derabassi, Government Polytechnic Khooni Majra and School of Eminence Phase 3B1 SAS Nagar, said the Deputy Commissioner. She said that the randomization process has deputed 1362 Presiding Officers, 1362 Assistant Presiding Officers and 2724 Polling officers. The Officers present on the occasion included ADC (G) Viraaj S Tidke, ARO-cum-SDM SAS Nagar Mohali Dipankar Garg, Election Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar and District Information Officer Annu Gupta. The Political parties present during the randomization process included INC, AAP, SAD, BJP and BSP.
